As the Berlin-based label Ottolinger celebrates its tenth anniversary, designers Christa Bösch and Cosima Gadient welcome us into a collection that is equal parts introspective and rebellious. The Spring Summer 2026 offering draws from what they term “trippy chic” — a phrase that immediately positions the collection as an exploration of contrasts, of dualities: control vs. relinquish, structure vs. flow, tradition vs. subversion.

The Mood & Message

The Mood & Message

Titled Girlfriend, the collection is described as a homage to female friendship and how women support, challenge and shape one another. It’s a compelling pivot for a brand known for its more club-underground, deconstructed aesthetic: here, the message is less about pure provocation and more about connection, shared strength, and clothes that reflect identity rather than hide it.

Key Silhouettes & Details

Key Silhouettes & Details

  • The signature moto-pants return, but reinvented: this season in white silk with black stretch panels — the “X-marks-the-spot” splice reflecting how Ottolinger playfully rewrites their own codes.
  • Tailoring takes an unexpected turn: boxy blazers, suiting elements, yet softened by ruching, sheer layering and sport-inflected harnesses. The collection leans more covered up than in previous seasons, signalling a matured sensibility.
  • Vintage bridal gowns were reworked, distressed, cropped and re-imagined into something less about walking down the aisle and more about stepping into your own agency. Lace, satin, satin-sheen – these traditional symbols are flipped into something bold.
  • Materials and textures: neoprene harnesses, over-dyed gingham, mesh panels, and glossy cottons combine sport and ceremony. This mix of tactile contrasts anchors the “trippy chic” mood.

Colour Palette & Material Play

Colour Palette & Material Play

Brooding, grounded yet sharp: earthy ochres, smoked greys, pale rose pinks, white silks—and then the black panels, the spliced elements that draw the eye. The palette is less about hyper-neon flash and more about subtlety that holds its own in the quiet moments.

Why It Matters

Why It Matters

  • Wearability meets edge: While the aesthetic remains adventurous, the tailoring and structure make these pieces feel more accessible to real wardrobes.
  • Concept that resonates: The focus on female bonds and transformation positions these pieces as statements — not just garments. Your style becomes part of a narrative, not just an accessory.
  • Textural richness: From spliced fabrics to vintage references, there’s depth to the pieces that reward attention — making them ideal for style editors, influencers or anyone wanting to move beyond the “it-bag” moment.
  • Timeless with a twist: This isn’t fleeting trend-fashion. While the mood is now, the referencing of heritage elements (bridal gowns, tailoring) ensures longevity in concept and wardrobe relevance.

How to Style the Looks

How to Style the Looks ottolinger

  • Day/Afternoon edit: Pair soft-white silk moto-pants (with black panel) with a structured blazer from the collection, neutral leather flats, and minimal jewellery. Let the splice detail do the talking.
  • Evening evolution: A reworked bridal-gown piece or halter top from the collection layered with sheer mesh and a sleek black skirt. Add a sculptural heel, a clean clutch, and let the textures shine.
  • Accessory focus: Harness or neoprene detail from the collection makes for a bold statement. Consider layering over a plain tee to let the piece elevate the look without overwhelming.
  • Colour strategy: Work the subdued tones (ochre, smoked grey, pale rose) as your foundational palette, then introduce a black-accented or high-texture piece (like the spliced pants) to anchor personality.

In Ottolinger Spring Summer 2026, we see a brand that remains true to its roots of experimentation and edge — yet also opts for something more reflective and composed. It’s style with emotion; deconstruction with intention. For anyone curating a spring/summer wardrobe with depth, this collection provides not just pieces, but statements.
